Xtreme Fat Loss Diet Day 8
by Scott Tousignant · Filed Under: Home Workouts
This is one of the days that I look forward to the most during the 5 day cycle of the Xtreme Fat Loss Diet. It’s shake day and I love drinking a variety of shakes throughout the day that really get my taste buds dancing.
I woke up feeling great after yesterday’s fast day, which left me very tired. I was excited to have a great start to my day. I consumed an oatmeal and honey protein shake and 45 minutes later I was off to do the workout.
Everything was going great. I felt awesome and ready to take on the world… and then the last set came. I hit a wall and couldn’t complete the recommended number of reps for the squat jumps and skipped the dive bomber push-ups. I was completely drained.
I came home and had my second shake and started getting the house ready for Noelle’s 7th birthday party. It wasn’t easy with the cake and treats in the house.
An hour later I found myself hungry again. I held off for 30 minutes before having my third shake of the day. It was barely even noon and I only had two shakes left to go in the day.
I became increasingly irritable, hungry, and almost felt like I was losing my mind. Yesterday I mentioned that I kept catching myself saying that I wish I was back on Tom Venuto’s Burn The Fat nutrition plan… well this was something that I was repeating to myself constantly all day today. It was driving me nuts. I really felt like quitting this diet today. If it wasn’t for the amazing people in my support community and all the accountability I’ve put in place I would have totally quit… guaranteed.
During my 30 minute bike ride I kept repeating to myself, “Why am I doing this? I should just stick with Burn The Fat.” I felt like I was losing my mind.
When I got home I started thinking, “What’s so different during this cycle compared to the first 5 day cycle?” The only thing that I could think of was that I hadn’t consumed my Prograde VGF multi-vitamins yesterday or today, and I hadn’t been drinking as much water. So I immediately had my vitamins and drank plenty of water throughout the remainder of the day. Low and behold I got my energy and sanity back.
The next two shakes were higher in fat content with natural peanut butter in them. That really curbed my appetite and I believe played a role in my energy levels and mental clarity.
The day ended on a happy note, but it really required a lot of perseverance and mental toughness. I had to keep reminding myself of my goal and the reasons why I MUST achieve that goal.
It was great to visit my support community frequently on this day because many of us seemed to be going through a very similar experience. I didn’t feel alone, and I knew that we were all pushing forward together. It also helped to see that some of them members who are a complete cycle ahead of me are still sticking with it and doing well.
All I know is that I’m looking forward to some solid food in me tomorrow. I’m pushing forward. I will stick the Xtreme Fat Loss Diet, even during the moments when I’m not enjoying myself. Why? Because I said I would and I won’t back down on that promise!
To achieving your limitless potential,

Scott Tousignant

thanks man, i needed to read this tonight to get thru my workout and diet tommorrow. I think its a combination of the lack of food and the high intensity workouts that you or i feel low sometimes. Ofcourse it also doesnt help if your girfriends fighting with you or that you suddenly flicked the channel and you saw a cooking show. Yup shake days are tough. Just imagine the V dieters. Are you familiar with that. I have 20 days to go. My prayers are with you, thank you in advance. By the way would you say the dynamic or lactic acid workouts are harder then say a program like Real fast Fatloss by chad waterbury and alwyn cosgrove? are you familiar with that?
I hurt my back this morning during strength training. The overtraining has finally taken its toll
Am very disappointed especially after having a good fast day yesterday but will have to stop for a while.
Good luck!
Hey Scott,
I’m a day behind you so today is my shake day, and I’m having the same thoughts. It doesn’t help that I woke up today with a sore throat. It’s hard eating no solid food for 2 straight days. I can say if I wasn’t documenting everything in my own support community and on Facebook, I may have given up too.
Thanks for sharing.
Scott
Well, I’ve given up for many reasons. The main reason being that I’m getting married in June so with the showers and such happening it was very difficult to keep to the fast days or shake days or protein only days. Also, for some reason I was super exhausted on fast days. My first fast day I managed to chug through my work day but I collapsed into bed as soon as I got home. Fast day 2 was not much different. It fell on a Saturday. I got my morning workout in, ran some errands then came home and took a nap. That nap lasted about 2 hours then I peeled myself out of bed and did my afternoon workout, showered and it was back to bed for me. I didn’t get up until 8am the next day! YIKES! The only other time I felt this exhausted was when I was chugging along with undiagnosed hypothyroidism. Strange! But once everything settles down, the wedding is over and the mini honeymoon, I’m giving this another shot because I’m very encouraged by everyone’s feedback! Thanks and sorry to ramble.
Scott:
Your story is really inspiring and interesting. Keep up the good work. I may give this program a try after my next powerlifting competition on June 26.
Richard
Hey Scott. I admire your dedication. Looking forward to your next post. You’re inspiring me, but these last two entries worry me–If you’re struggling, I’m sure I will. I’ve never tried anything this intense before. I’ve ordered the program and am reading through it; ordering the supplements and all. Plan to start this weekend. My goal–bikini bod by August. Need to find some beach pictures to motivate me along the way.
One question: Do you take BCAAs on your protein only days? I couldn’t find in the materials when and how many to take.
Thanks so much for your posts. It’s good to hear how others are doing on this plan. Also appreciated the shin splints post–I recently started jogging and, after a week, suffered shin splints. Thought I took it slow, but not enough. I’m doing the exercises so hopefully, I won’t experience them again.
Hang in there.
