Will You Look Better On You Next Birthday?
by Scott Tousignant · Filed Under: Body Transformation · Motivation
Will you look better on your next birthday? Will you be leaner? Will you have more muscle? Will your physique be more symmetrical? Will you improve upon your weaker points? I’d love to hear your thoughts and how you see yourself improving between today and your next birthday.
The inspiration for this post came from one of my greatest role models, Tom Venuto, author of Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle, The Holy Grail Body Transformation Program, and creator of the Burn The Fat Inner Circle. It was his birthday and Tom had posted a great message on the Burn The Fat Facebook Fan Page…
“What if you set a goal to hit a personal record (PR) on your birthday workout, for every b-day, for as long as you live?
None of us is likely to increase our 1 rep max PR forever (well, at least not past our 100th b-day, up to 99 or so, should be no problem), but we could always do SOME kind of PR right? more reps… more sets… new workout, or anything we haven’t done before; just some PR.
I like that idea. Hmmm, maybe this will become a tradition in the Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle world?”
This reminded me of a similar message that I first heard from Cover Model extraordinaire, Clark Bartram, a few years ago when I interviewed him. I recommend that you give this audio a listen… it’s awesome!

The message of improving from birthday to birthday really resonated with me and I’ve been living up to it for the past few years. Today, as I approach 36 years of age I am in the best shape of my life. I plan on looking even better in my 40’s. I look at my wife who recently turned 38 and she is sexier, than ever with a knock out physique.
Nearly all of my role models are in their 40’s and a couple are in their 50’s. I see how they continue to improve their physiques and it inspires the heck out of me. Tom Venuto, Shawn Phillips, and Clark Bartram are just a few of the guys who I look up to…

I like to think that we can look better with age and as Tom mentions, even if we hit a point where our strength and muscle gains plateau a bit, there are so many areas of our health, physique, and well-being that we can improve.
This message ties in nicely with our philosophies of “Continuous Growth”. Life really is about growth, living to our potential, and enjoying life to the fullest. That’s what we all deserve!
Will you look better on your next birthday? I sure as heck know that I will!
To achieving your limitless potential,
Scott Tousignant

Scott and friends. Since I got my abs exposed for the first time in my life last September we will see what the picture says this year. So far as I know (looking down on those bumpy things) they look bigger to me. Will see what the photos from my last birthday compare with those yet to be taken. Almost 2 months left to make ‘em pop!
AWESOME!!! …And for the record, so others who read your comment… you are an awesome role model who is in his 60’s.
It’s amazing how people don’t think that it’s possible to get abs in your 60’s.
I will be 50 on my next birthday (Oct), and know that I’ll look better than previous years. I hadn’t thought of making it a regular goal, so thanks for the idea. And, I know that looks don’t last, so yes, something fitness related can be improved each year.
This couldn’t have come at a better time as I turn 46 next week. Here’s the thing. I think I hit my peak around 43-44. I was faster, leaner, stronger. I am 5′6″ tall (female). During those years I weighed 115 .lbs with a body fat percentage around 16-17%. 3 months into my 45th year, I started gaining weight and everything just got so much harder. I now hover around 122 .lbs, with my body fat percentage being between 19-20%. My timing on both my flat and hill runs is 5 minutes slower than before. I’ve incorporated changes to my workouts to make them harder. I’ve added new things to mix it up but no luck. I have to tell ya, this is killing me. I know for 46, I’m in great shape but to not improve every year is a hard pill to swallow. Guess I’m wondering, what your thoughts are? Does this just happen? Do I accept it as part of getting older? aargh…
i like this idea…would probably look forward to my birthday more too
You and angie are actually role models for me …a lot of people in “The industry” just seem unreachable to me but you guys are every day people with a family, with jobs, also in your 30’s and you have proven it’s doable! plus you guys give out a lot of inspiration and honest insight into the industry. I was never a sportsy type and it always overwhelmed me but I am slowly changing that mindset and also feeling inspired to start pushing myself and my workouts to bigger goals..
I decided in January that I would be in better shape (leaner, stronger and more active) on my 50th birthday (next April) than I was on my 40th. So far, I am doing well toward this goal with a weight loss so far of 34 lbs and two dress sizes. There is some nice muscle tone going on in my legs and biceps. Still some fat covering the abs in front but the lats are coming along.
This couldn’t have come at a better time because I’m turning 40 in November and I’m in better shape than I was in when I turned 30. My body fat is between 17-18 percent. I’m currently in the process of trying to build some muscle through strength training so hopefully by or before 41, I’ll look even better!
