Do You Have a Morning Fitness Routine?

Your morning routine sets the tone for the rest of your day. Starting your day with some physical activity, a healthy breakfast, and reviewing your goals, will have a tremendous positive impact on everything that you do throughout your day.

The great thing about being physically active first thing in the morning is that you won’t get caught putting it off until the end of the day when you may be too tired to exercise and you won’t allow other tasks to take priority over your health and fitness.

Often times Angie will do her weight training first thing in the morning. I have a difficult time lifting weights immediately upon waking up. I prefer to go for a morning walk or bike ride. With the weather getting much colder around here, I’ve been walking first thing in the morning 5 days a week and have put my bike away for the winter.

My morning routine reminds me of my dear friend Holly Rigsby’s morning routine. This is a really cute video… Check it out…

Holly’s a sweetheart and one of our favorite fitness friends. We love how she keeps it real just like Angie and I. Her home workout program Fit Yummy Mummy is the perfect compliment to Angie’s Sizzlin’ Circuits home workout program.

Walking may not be the most efficient calorie burner, but it still burns fat and adds to your total daily caloric deficit. For me, the benefits extend far beyond the calorie burn. I walk first thing in the morning, because it clears my head, gets my blood flowing, energizes me, helps my gather my thoughts and prepare for the day, gets me in-tune with my thoughts and with nature, and puts me in an absolutely awesome mood.

Upon returning from my 30 minute walk, I enjoy two cups of coffee while I like to write down my most important tasks to complete for the day. This gives me great focus. Then I review my long term goals and reasons why I MUST achieve those goals. Next, I check out the workout that I have planned later in the day and make note of what I must do in order to make progress from the previous workout. I record my goal, and tasks for the day on my journal sheets, which you can download here: Body Transformation Motivation

I then enjoy a healthy and nutritious breakfast, which is usually a bowl of oatmeal with blueberries, a banana, and cinnamon.

By this time it’s nearly 7am and it’s time to wake up the kids and get them ready for school. By 8am they are on the bus and it’s time to start my work day.

Lately I’ve been working out at the end of my workday, which I am really enjoying. I was working out before my lunch break, but I kind of enjoy this new routine that I have going.

I’ll be sure to record my routine on video and share Angie’s complete morning routine as well. One thing that I’m looking to work into my morning routine is a bit more stretching.

In closing, I would just like to mention that “routine” is just another word for “Habit“. When you incorporate a healthy morning routine into your day, it will become automatic before you know it. I personally don’t even think about it. My morning walk is just a part of my day. It’s effortless (mentally). Sure it was tough to get out of my warm cozy bed when I first began this routine, but it’s been well worth it, because the routine became a healthy habit.

So now it’s your turn… What’s your morning routine like? We’d love to hear from you.

To achieving your limitless potential,

Cardio Challenge: 100 Rep Dumbbell Squats

Do you have what it takes to complete the 100 rep dumbbell squat challenge? Quick cardio sessions come in a variety of forms and are incredible at burning fat, skyrocketing your energy, improving your focus, and helping you become more productive throughout your day. I experiment with a variety of exercises to find the right combination’s for optimal fat burning in 10-minutes or less right here in my home office.

One of my favorite quick cardio workouts is performing 100 rep dumbbell squats. The challenge is to see how quickly you can complete 100 reps with proper form. If you are a beginner you may want to start off without using any dumbbells and simply using your own body weight.

Here’s a video demonstration of how to perform 100 rep squats as a cardio workout:

100 Rep Dumbbell Squats

The idea is to do as many squats as you can followed by a short break, then repeat until you reach 100 reps. Take note of how
