Metabolic Cooking For Faster and Easier Fat Loss

There’s a new healthy cookbook in town, which I am 100% certain will help you achieve your fat loss results faster, while making it easier for you to stick to your new healthy eating plan. It’s called Metabolic Cooking, by Dave Ruel, and it is jam packed with mouth watering recipes that will totally boost your metabolism!

Metabolic CookingThere’s absolutely no doubt that your diet is largely responsible for your fat loss results. Some would argue that diet is 80% of the battle, while others would say it’s even as high as 90%. Although we understand the significant impact that diet has on our body composition, some people choose to rely on guess work to arrive at their fat loss destination. They guess what they should be eating to lose fat and guess how many calories are in the foods that they choose to eat. This can be a very stressful part of your every day life.

With Metabolic Cooking, you take the stress out of meal planning and calorie counting. Nothing makes it easier for me to burn fat, than having a list of delicious and healthy recipes that also include the calorie content of each meal.

Fat Loss Ethics 101

Have you ever fallen victim to misleading advertising for a fat loss or muscle building product? I know that I have. I’ve spent my hard earned money on muscle building powders as a young ‘hard gainer’, because of the claims that I read in the fitness magazines. All they did was make me fat and broke. I spent my hard earned money on fat burners when I was young and naive, hoping to get the beach body that was displayed across the billboards.

Although I am a fitness professional, I’m still a customer just like you. I’ve been persuaded to buy fat loss crap, because the marketing angle was so convincing. Now I can laugh at the crazy infomercials that I see at night, because I am well aware of the marketing tricks that they are using in their advertising. They pay really buff models to demonstrate their equipment, pill, or workout, leading you to believe it was their gadget or gizmo that made these people look the way they do. Some companies will even get a big name doctor to stand behind their product, making it look even more credible, when it’s really useless and sometimes harmful.

It’s upsetting for me to see an industry that I am so passionate about, become so consumed with greed, while throwing all ethics out the window for the sake of the almighty dollar.

How To Improve Your Relationship With Food

If you’ve been struggling to lose weight I can assure you that it’s not because you haven’t discovered the greatest fat burning exercise of all time or because you are eating the top five forbidden foods that cause weight gain. The real reason why you are struggling to lose weight is because you’re overeating. Simple as that. Complicating matters any further than this will only place unnecessary stress on yourself and your body and that’s the last thing that I want for you. What I do wish for you is that you discover the joy in this process of transforming your body and embrace your new fun and healthy lifestyle.

The best advice that I’ve heard when it comes to fat loss, came from my friend Brad Pilion, author of Eat Stop Eat. Brad’s advice… “Eat less, stress less; move more, lift more and get a good night’s sleep. For physical health, that’s pretty much as good as it gets.”

Putting an end to overeating and discovering the pleasure in eating less, begins by examining your “relationship” with food…

Do You Eat For Pleasure?

Angie and I were recently asked a great question from one of our valued readers, Esther. She asked, “I would like to know when, if ever, you eat for just ‘pleasure’, rather than always being aware and focused on health and fitness issues? Or are the two intertwined for you by now?” Here’s our response…

Of course we eat for pleasure and we receive a lot more pleasure than you may think from the foods that we eat.

First of all, we do indulge in ‘treats’ or junk food. As you may know, Angie enjoys a small treat every day. This practice actually helps her stay on track with her healthy eating habits. In the video above Angie was eating a very small bowl of ice cream. Because she has a small treat every day she never feels the desire to binge or overeat junk food. Plus, she never experiences feelings of guilt.

I personally enjoy more structure with my nutrition. For the past 7 years the structured plan that I have followed is

Health Benefits Of Chocolate And The Role Of Mass Media

With Halloween coming soon, I thought it would be fun to pull out a video that @FitChic and I did with our kids. It was mocking the media reports about chocolate being good for your health.

Do You Trust Mass Media?

The point that we are trying to get across is that mass media is misleading the public with their headlines and articles when it comes to fat loss.

I’ve got to tell ya,

Scrambled Egg Whites and Veggies

One of the common complaints that I hear when it comes to eating healthy to achieve fat loss is that it takes too long to prepare each meal. That couldn’t be further from the truth. The majority of the meals that I eat take less than 10 minutes to prepare and I cook enough to last through several meals. Here is one of my favorite meals. It’s kind of a scrambled egg white and veggie concoction.
