Here Comes The Sun, But Where Are You?
by Scott Tousignant · Filed Under: Home Workouts
Here’s your weekly dose of work at home humor from my buddy Dan Reinhold of WAHumor.com. Today’s post is full of good laughs and some seriously great thought provoking insights. What makes it funny is that it’s not far from the truth. Sometimes the online lifestyle can shut us out from the things that truly matter most to us. Enjoy the laugh and the insights…
Here’s hoping you haven’t gotten to that point, or even close. If you have, I know a good arborist who can give you a trim cheap.
Unhealthiness seems to be the default work at home lifestyle: sitting for hours, staring at a computer monitor, typing repetitively, barely moving (except for more coffee/soda/chips/leftover birthday cake/anything the kids have hidden, etc.) and oh yeah, that stuff I wrote in the parentheses there.
I am, of course, much too busy sitting, staring, typing and barely moving right now to address those concerns. Not to mention it’s a beautiful sunny day as I write this…
…oh wait, sunlight. That’s what I’m talking about! Remember it??
How often DO you get out? All the way out, past the exterior door into the semi-wild beyond and not just staying in the doorway slurping another cup of coffee, musing about the day past or coming??
You missing out on some gooood stuff, that sunlight. Stuff you have a real need for, more than you think.
Sunlight does a body good without bothering a single cow for the privilege. It cranks up your Vitamin D supply, gives your brain a positive energizing zap and even helps you sleep better for the effort.
It does squat for you watching it on a video. Or TV. Or a movie. Or reading about it like this.
It’s something you must experience directly, even if just a little. A lot is actually not good at all, but you knew that. Betcha didn’t know that a couple of sunshine breaks can mean sooo much for your worn out work at home body and mind.
It’s not even hard to do. When you take a break, carry it outside. Can’t stand the thought of being away from your computer for even a little while? After you’ve scheduled your therapy appointment NOW, get yourself a laptop or a cool little netbook
If you’ve got wireless, you’re pretty much set. If not, you still are…just write and don’t do Internet stuff on your sunshine break. Problem?? See above paragraph.
Either way, don’t sweat it. You’re not undergoing a marathon sunbathing session, you’re taking, say, 30 minutes sun time. If you haven’t also developed a thirst for blood, you’ll be fine.
Ready for that sun break? Shades are optional, but both add to the cool factor and keep you from bumping into things when you come back in. Trust me, I’ve been there.
