Tom Venuto Is The Fat Loss Expert That Everyone Should Follow

Fat Loss Expert Tom VenutoI know that saying “everyone should follow Tom Venuto“, is a pretty bold statement to make. After all, not everyone may want to follow Tom’s nutrition strategies and not everyone will want to workout like him. Even if this is the case, I guarantee that there are countless fat loss lessons that you can learn from him, especially in the area of mindset and long term motivation.

If you haven’t listened to the amazing 18 minute interview that I did with Tom covering the topic of overcoming limiting beliefs, I recommend that you drop everything and pop it into your mp3 player now. You can download it by visiting Fat Loss Belief System with Tom Venuto and look for the audio player at the bottom of the page.

That is seriously one of the most powerful interviews that I’ve ever conducted, especially considering that it was only 18 minutes long. It’s all content with action steps that you can easily implement.

What Do You Think About The Taco Bell Drive Thru Diet Menu?

Taco BellWhen I was watching television yesterday I saw a commercial about the Taco Bell Drive Thru Diet and I was initially shocked. Taco Bell and diet don’t usually go hand in hand. It was kind of an oxymoron to me.

I’m not sure how new this menu is to Taco Bell as I haven’t eaten there in a long time and I don’t watch television enough to be aware of their marketing campaigns, so this may not be new news to you, but I thought it would make for a lively discussion.

As I mentioned, I was initially shocked, but then I thought of the other fast food chains that have been doing this for years. McDonald’s has their healthy menu and Subway has Jared and their healthy menu, so why can’t Taco Bell do the same thing now with Christine and the Fresco Menu?

Here’s a quick video to give you a peak at the Taco Bell Drive Through Menu…

Highlights from the video:

The Egg Controversy

eggs and cholesterolHey there everyone. There seems to be so much confusion regarding the consumption of eggs and cholesterol in the body. My husband, Scott and I just LOVE to eat eggs. I have at least one or two whole eggs a day. Scott has much more than that! So are we jeopardizing our health over our love of eggs!?

I’ve done some research on my own and this is what I’ve found:

What is Cholesterol Anyway??

Cholesterol is a complex fatty substance found in every living cell. We cannot live without it. It provides the building blocks from which the body makes its own supply of sex and adrenal hormones. Cholesterol can also be converted to vitamin D in our body and used for the calcification of bones and teeth.

Our body is capable of making its own supply of cholesterol. In fact, most of the cholesterol found in our body is made there; only part of it comes from the food we eat. The liver and intestines are the primary sites where it is manufactured. Overproduction of cholesterol may be the most important factor contributing to arteriosclerosis, a form of hardening of the arteries.

Numerous dietary studies have been undertaken to determine the effect of cholesterol intake on the level in the body:

Basically, the studies reveal that

Quickie Meal: Stuffed Peppers

Stuffed Green Peppers are full of so many nutrients. They are an excellent, healthy meal packed with fiber. This meal does NOT need to take up much of your time… simply prepare the rice ahead of time, add a few more ingredients, stuff the peppers, and put them into your crockpot to simmer all day. Voila! A nutritious meal in NO TIME!

What I love about this meal is you are getting lots of vegetables and protein. I used black beans for protein, however you can add lean ground beef.

Tips for Shopping and Eating with Your Kids

The holidays are fast approaching and with that so are the days of being out of the house for hours upon hours as you shop for that perfect gift.

Most of those times, you will have to take the kids with you and that is not always a pleasant event. They get tired, bored and start bickering and it can drive you crazy.

Some of the things you can do while on your shopping trip are…

  • Make sure to bring along hand held games they can play.
  • Keep quick snacks like raisins, grapes, carrots, or nuts. Avoid junk food and sugary treats because that will only escalate the problem.
  • Pack a quick healthy lunch and opt out on the fast food. Instead stop at park if it is warm enough or an indoor botanical garden where you can take a breather for a while and enjoy your kids.
  • Let your kids shop with you. Instead of just taking them, let them participate in the shopping experience by allowing them to help choose gifts, check off the food on the grocery list as it enters the basket, or let them handle paying the cashier.

Taking the kids along shopping may not be the ideal thing to do; but often necessary so be sure to be prepared.

To help you with some quick lunch ideas, I have a few recipes

Ways to Eat Healthy While on a Budget

With the current state of the economy you may find it difficult to eat healthy foods while on a budget.  However, let’s not use the economy as an excuse. There are ways to still eat healthy on a budget and below I share some tips.

Drink Water or Milk Instead of Soft Drinks

You don’t have to cut out soft drinks entirely, just limit to sporting events or when out to dinner.  Be sure to purchase the smaller size to save money, but in all honesty soft drinks are loaded with chemicals and sugars that our body does not need.  Children and even adults need milk or milk products on a daily basis.  Milk will also help you get strong and provides calcium for healthy bones and healthy teeth.

Purchase Fruits in Quantity

When they are in season, buy fruits in quantity and freeze any extras.  You can buy several pounds this way, and freeze extras to have them when the fruit goes out of season.  Wash the fruit well, remove any spoiled pieces, dry thoroughly, then freeze in plastic zipper bags.

Purchase Meats and Beans

The best sources of protein are meats and beans.  Although lean meat is
