Sneaky Fat Burning Tricks To See Faster Results

Fat loss is way less complicated than many ‘fitness experts’ make it out to be. That’s why Angie and I are committed to simplifying the process for you and help you cut through all the overwhelm and confusion that holds so many people back.

Fat loss gets even simpler when you look at what you do in addition to your workout and nutrition plan, because the REAL SECRET to losing weight quickly and permanently is in the “little things” you do throughout your day!

For example, in this video, my buddy Jeff Anderson shares two sneaky and simple tricks to burn fat faster and boost your motivation…

Here’s the link to the 27 second trick that Jeff mentions in the video: Fast Fat Loss Trick

I love the 6 pack abs smoothie recipe that Jeff shared. I’ll definitely be making one of those tonight!

Fat Loss Tips From My Dad

Here’s where it all began… In my parents cold basement, a simple bench, concrete filled dumbbells, and a York 2000 home gym. At the age of 14, in this very spot, staring at posters of Arnold Schwazenegger and Jean-Claude Van Damme, listening to Public Enemy and Rage Against Machine, I declared to my friends that I would own a health club and become a fitness expert.

Oh, if these walls could talk ;) This is where I developed the intense fascination with the ability of the human body to transform and continually improve.

…and today, I have a fun video interview with my dad, who at the age of 58 continues to transform his physique. In the past year my dad has released 22 pounds. Despite what others say, my dad says that it could actually be easier to transform your body in your 50’s and beyond. Watch this video to hear his reasoning behind this…

Fat Loss Straight Talk With John Barban

I’m excited to introduce you to John Barban, the creator of the Adonis Effect (for men) and the Venus Index (for women). I have become completely hooked on John’s podcast and blown away with the quality of content that John and his team share on their blog every week. Their message resonates with me more than anything else out there, and what really strikes me is their no B.S. approach and lack of hype. They simply tell it like it is.

I recorded a recent conversation that I had with John, where we do some serious fat loss straight talk. You can watch our conversation or download the audio below. Enjoy!

Fat Loss audioYou can also download the audio version of this interview to listen to on your mp3 player by right clicking and saving Fat Loss Straight Talk mp3

At the end of the conversation John and I bring up some of his recent podcasts about the errors in counting calories that are burned as well as the errors in counting calories consumed. This is very enlightening information that you should become aware of, even if you don’t enjoy counting calories. Here are links to the two podcasts…

How Often Should You Work Your Abs

One of the members from my local gym recently asked the question, “How often should I work my abs? I recorded a video, which reveals the answer to this question as well as some very key issues that you must be aware of when it comes to achieving great abs, plus, my Top 6 Abs Exercises!

Here’s some key points about working your abs…

The most important point to clear up is that it doesn’t matter how many abs exercises you do or how often you work them, if they are covered with a layer of fat, you’ll never see them.

The way to remove the fat around your belly is to create a caloric deficit by consuming fewer calories than you burn on a daily basis. It’s as simple as that. There’s no magic bullet.

Beginner Workout Advice

There are some common questions that Angie and I receive from our valued readers and customers who are just starting out in their fat loss journey. Questions such as, “How much weight should I lift while I workout?

I was about to record some videos to answer these fat loss questions, but realized that my friend Craig Ballantyne, the creator of Turbulence Training, had some great videos with great beginner workout advice…

That was some great advice from Craig and a great demonstration. I especially like the advice about not going all out in the beginning, while you find the weight that’s right for you. I see some people go overboard when they start out and they are too sore to continue for the week, which sometimes leads to them giving up all together.

Angie and I also receive a fair amount of questions from beginners who find that Interval Training is too difficult for them to perform. In the following video, Craig offers some great advice on this topic…

I found Craig’s advice on Beginner Interval Training to be awesome! It’s a great combination of low impact body weight movements along with some stretching. The Interval splits times are perfect for beginners too!

If you haven’t already done so, I recommend that you check out Craig’s Turbulence Training programs. He offers quite a variety of workouts, so there’s something for everyone.

Did you pick up any tips from these videos that you will apply today? We’d love to hear from you in the comment box below…

Workout Variety and Old School Fitness

I have some important questions to ask you today about workout variety, but first I want to share some insights on a really cool gift that I received from my 90 year old personal training client. It’s an old school fitness book from 1958 called the “5 BX Plan”…

The 5 BX Plan is a fitness program that was created for the Royal Canadian Armed Forces and really put Canadian fitness on the map. It was designed to improve the level of physical fitness of the Armed Forces as well as become a means of measuring their fitness level. It was made available to the public and sold over 20 million copies.

Guess My Weight and Win!

I’m frequently asked what my measurements are, from guys who aspire to have a physique similar to mine. So I figured that I would turn that question into a fun contest where you guess my weight and win!

Scott TousignantFirst, lets start with a picture of me at the age of 20. Those were the days when I could pound the beer, eat a tub of ice cream and not gain a pound ;) At this point I had been working out recreationally for about 6 years. Although I was pretty darn scrawny, I couldn’t imagine what I would have looked like if I wasn’t lifting weights. It’s kind of funny to look at this picture and see that I had no chest muscle at all ;) There was a specific weight that I was aiming for at this point, and I will reveal it at the end of the contest.

What’s really funny is when I hear people say, “I wish I look like I did back in high school.” Oh my! That’s the last goal that you would ever hear me state ;)

To gain muscle and weight I was pounding back those weight gainer 3000 shakes (mistake) and getting my workout programs from magazines (mistake #2).

This age was a turning point for me. I was now in my second year of University, achieving my degree in Human Kinetics, and learning the human body inside and out. I was learning the body’s physiological response to exercise and was completely fascinated with all the muscles, where they were connected and what nerves innervated them. But what intrigued me the most was the Sport Psychology classes, where we studied Olympic and professional athletes and how they applied specific mindset strategies to elevate their game to an entirely new level.

Within Workout Variety For The Ultimate Body Transformation

The phrase, “Variety is King!” has been uttered by nearly every fitness trainer around the world, with the premise being that your body adapts to the stresses of a specific training protocol after four to six weeks, where the magnitude of the results that you have been achieving, begins to diminish. This is why you see Angie and I performing a new workout program each month.

There are many ways that you can incorporate variety in your training each month. Here are just a few:

a) Keep the workout the same, but change the exercises.
b) Keep the workout and the exercises the same, but change the reps, rest period, or tempo.
c) Change the entire workout plan.
