Believe In Yourself… Your Success Depends Upon It!
by Scott Tousignant · Filed Under: Motivation
I believe that success leaves clues and in the video that I’m about to share with you, you’ll find a boat load of clues as to what it really takes to achieve success in all areas of life.
All the best workout programs and diet plans are of no use to you if you don’t believe in yourself, believe in your goals, and believe that you deserve to achieve the biggest goals that you can dream up. I watched this video twice on my own yesterday and once with Angie.
This video is a combination of clips from interviews of actor/rapper Will Smith. Prepare to get fired up and become the best you that you can be!
Unstoppable Beliefs and Attitudes
Success certainly does leave clues and in my opinion, Will Smith is one of the most successful people out there. It’s not because he’s been in several hit movies, had several hit songs, or had a hit television show. It’s not because he’s created financial success…
…Will Smith is one of the most successful people out there because he has achieved success in all areas of life. He has created financial success. If you have seen him in movies and take a look at his picture, he’s definitely had success in transforming his body. He’s also successful in life with a wonderful family and making a difference in other peoples lives.
I have heard people say that you shouldn’t have just one role model for everything in life. I’ve been told that you should have a role model who has achieved the success that you want in career, you should have a role model who has successfully achieved the kind of body and physical fitness that you desire, and you should have role models who exemplify the life goals that you plan on achieving.
I can agree with that to an extent, but it’s always great to have a role model who has achieved the kind of success that you want to achieve in all areas of life.
One of the best things that I’ve done has been hiring mentors who are in incredible shape and take care of their health, they’ve achieved great financial and business success, and they live a wonderful lifestyle and make a great and wonderful difference in many peoples lives.
I don’t want to be exactly like them, but they provide me with the belief of what is possible and they’re ‘clues’ or blueprints can be used to guide me on the path to what I define as success for myself.
Here are some of the very important takeaways from this inspirational video:
I loved hearing that because I absolutely love life and I know that every time I say, “Life ROCKS!” it brightens someone’s day and causes them to spread it to others whom they come in contact with throughout the day.
This couldn’t be more true. It’s not luck. Greatness may be a gift, but it’s a gift that we all have.
There are some goals that you are not necessarily going to be willing to ‘die’ for, but it’s this attitude of being willing to do whatever it takes to fulfill your dreams and make them become a reality.
How true is that? Very True! Especially when it comes to fat loss. Over-complicating fat loss has been something that I’ve discussed many times before. You spend so much time in search of the advanced techniques and strategies, yet you haven’t mastered the fundamentals because when you hear them you think to yourself, “It can’t be that easy.”
Now that’s some incredibly powerful words of wisdom right there. Right now you are becoming the best you that you can be. It doesn’t matter that you have struggled with your weight… what matters is that you are developing and mastering the skills that are making you sculpt your body and achieve amazing health and vitality.
If you want to achieve success you have got to be willing to work hard and give it everything that you’ve got. No more of this going through the motions crap!
Now this is something that I talk about frequently as well. I even mention it in my 3 Sneaky Fat Loss Tricks presentation. Focusing on growth is one of the greatest keys to success.
That’s the best advice that a parent could ever tell their child!
This is one of my favorite parts of the video…
Wow! Now that’s powerful! You can set your big ambitious goal, have the deadline. Know your powerful why. But it’s important to have a plan and fulfill each step of that plan to the best of your personal abilities.
Each workout, each cardio session, each meal, and each journal entry are all individual steps in your plan for sculpting the body that you deserve. Each of those steps are worthy of the greatest effort that you can put forth. When you are performing each step, be in that moment. That moment is just as important or even more important than your ultimate goal.
Not a day goes by where I don’t receive an email, comment on my blog, or comment in my forum from someone who mentions that something myself or Angie did or said that made a positive difference in their life. This drives me to continue becoming even better than who I am. Knowing that my work and actions are making a positive difference in other peoples lives is the most rewarding thing that drives me forward.
This is also something that drives me every day. I want to be the best role model possible for my children and show them that there are limitless possibilities available for them.
It’s to the point where if I say that something is impossible my kids immediate tell me, “But dad, you said that nothing is impossible.” This forces me to think of ways to make what I once thought impossible become possible.
This is a very intriguing point. I’m sure that you’ve heard that you should always have a back up plan, but have you ever thought that having a back up plan almost assumes that you will fail and as Will says, “Distracts you from your initial plan.”
Being prepared for obstacles, challenges, and setbacks is a good strategy in my mind, but don’t focus on it. Don’t give it too much attention. Focus on achieving the goal that you are aiming for.
I have had my fair share of failures and it drives me nuts whenever I share a goal with someone and they turn around and say, “Didn’t you try that before and fail?” Yes I did fail, but that was before and this is now. Here’s what I learned from that failure and here’s why the outcome is going to be different this time!
Nuff said
I’ve been told many times that my goals were unrealistic and proven those naysayers wrong. Setting ‘Realistic’ goals is something that I’m sure you’ve heard before. But it’s not necessarily the goal that’s realistic as it is the deadline.
Someone who is 100 pounds overweight may not believe that it’s realistic that they could get in such incredible shape where they could step on stage and compete in a figure competition. It may not be realistic to try and achieve that goal in 6 months, but given 18 months of hard work and dedication to your goals and dreams, it becomes very realistic.
Everything starts with a thought. That’s physical. You just need to follow that ‘physical thought’ with physical action.
This is a good one! Are you sitting back and waiting for life to happen to you or are you making life happen?
Fear of failure can stop you dead in your tracks. If you are afraid that you’ll sabotage yourself, become motivated to overcome that sabotage and attack that fear head on!
If you haven’t watched “The Pursuit of Happyness” watch it today.
Don’t allow anyone to shoot down your dreams and that includes YOU! Don’t you dare doubt your abilities to make your dreams become a reality.
If you want to sculpt the body and life that you deserve… do it and don’t let anything stop you.
Now go out there and achieve your goals!
To achieving your limitless potential,

Hey Scott,
Terrific post. I’ve watched that video before many times. It should be required viewing in schools, far as I’m concerned.
If the world was full of Will Smiths – or Scott Tousignant’s
– it would be a much better place.
Jim
Thanks Jim. I just wish that every parent would instill this belief in their kids. It wasn’t until University when I really started learning about the power of your mind.
What a powerful video! Will Smith is such a great motivator for the simple fact that he BELIEVES! He also doesn’t let anyone, including himself, get in his way! We all could learn from him.
Thank you for such a great video!
You ROCK Cat! It’s not just a belief… it’s an Unstoppable Belief!
It’s so great to see you improving and pushing yourself while recovering from surgery. You’re an amazing role model.
I’ve seen this one before, too, Scott – but, I’m going to watch it again as I sit here and eat my chicken soup. I need a boost lately – been kind of bumming in my ‘get healthy/be healthy’ journey. (We’ve got mono in the house right now…ugh…fun) But I’ve been way off track with my eating and that is something I cannot afford to be doing, as my exercising is severely limited with this messed up foot. I was doing great, then I went on a fun trip and got off track and have been struggling to get ‘back on the wagon’ since then.
Hey Lisa… Make the choice to get on track today.
Sooooooo glad I watched this again! Thanks so much for posting it, Scott! Great stuff for sure!
Generally I agree with what the video shows…work, belief and so on.
There are limiting facors ,dont ask a man who is paraplegic to run a world record mile…exageration of course but isnt that realism?
There is a world of difference between appreciating what is possible and believing that everything can happen for you ,in this sense the video is a disservice to reality .
A man with a malfunctioninhg heart cannot expect the performance of a teenager in perfect health ,isnt that realism [sic realistic,I have just discoverd].I’ll give an example…using the principle that belief can move mountains I decided to walk a little more each day, each day there was a worsening reaction to the excercise I was imposing ,this ended up with hospitalisation..the moral….take care sometimes belief can kill you or at least push you in that direction.
To die for the truth…well now …..what is truth..does it not change with political and scientific will or discovery ..is truth eternal…I doubt it…thus I very much doubt this particular piece of wisdom.
To summarise ..it is a good video but please ,however great Will Smith might be [yes I think he is bright and cool]let us not elevate him to the status of a spiritual saint
Hi Tony, I really appreciate you sharing this perspective. This is a great subject and it’s conversations like this that are really worth while having. I definitely see where you are coming from on many points.
At this moment I guarantee that someone is achieving something that another person told them was unrealistic to achieve.
You mentioned, “There are limiting factors, don’t ask a man who is paraplegic to run a world record mile⦠exageration of course but isn’t that realism?”
I’m not going to ask a paraplegic to run a world record mile. But what if this man was watching the Olympics and he started dreaming of the day when he would walk again and he had a vision of running a world record mile. Who am I to shoot that dream down?
He didn’t have a vision to run a world record mile tomorrow. He just had the vision. As I mentioned, it’s often time the time line that is the unrealistic goal.
Now what if ten years from now there is a discovery in science and medicine that helped paraplegic’s walk again. What if this man is so overwhelmed with joy and gratefulness that he commits himself to training like a mad man every single day, fueling his body and mind with only the best things possible, and he dedicates himself to proving to the world what is possible if you dream it and believe it with every ounce of your being?
Is it possible now? Could he run a world record mile?
Could a person with malfunctioning heart compete at a level of a teenager? Maybe not today… but is it possible in the future?
Two of the Unstoppable Fat Loss interviews that I conducted were with people who had ‘limiting factors’. Nino Savona couldn’t walk without crutches as a result of complications from birth and a surgery gone bad. John Riccio has Cerebral Palsy. Both these guys have competed on stage in body building contests and beat able bodied people. How many people do you think told them that their goals were unrealistic?
“Dieing for the truth”… that was something that I struggled with a bit too. It depends on what truth is like you said. I’m certainly willing to die for my freedom. Am I willing to die for six pack abs… no!
But, the message I took from it is simply being willing to do whatever it takes in order to make my dreams come true. Of course you have to define ‘whatever it takes.’ If I want to be rich I could rob a bank, but that doesn’t fall within my values and beliefs. Doing whatever it takes without bringing harm to myself and others and actually helping others in the process is something that I can really get behind.
I’m certainly not raising Will Smith to the status of spiritual saint and I certainly didn’t state anything of the sort in this post. Will Smith is a man who has achieved great success in all areas of life. He’s an incredible role model. He has opened the doors of possibility for countless people. He’s just a regular guy with great talent, but it’s his work ethic, attitude, and beliefs that continue to bring him to new heights… and provide him with a great deal of joy from life. That’s not a saint. That’s human potential.
I believe that anything is possible. That excites me! That excites me for my kids. Believing that anything is possible is what helped me move on and achieve success after bankruptcy. It’s what helped me overcome depression. It’s what moves me every day.
These are my beliefs and what makes this world an amazing place is that everyone has different belief systems. My beliefs evolve and grow every day as do others. I may hear about someone else’s belief and find that it inspires me to either adopt that belief or something similar to it.
Beliefs are individual and are part of what makes us all unique beings. I respect and appreciate your beliefs Tony. Thank you for sharing them, it really means a lot to me.
Scott Tousignant
Thanks for sharing such a powerful message, Scott! I love Will’s passion and how consistent his message is with each interview. He truly seems to embody a very successful person who actually “gets” it and is so willingly to change people’s lives by sharing his message. His kids have a great role model.
I love the part where he says on a treadmill there are only 2 choices: You’re gonna get off first, or I’m gonna DIE!!!
And regarding whether a paraplegic or other disabled person can run a mile, be sure to check out Dick and Rick Hoyt’s story. And this isn’t a mile, this is numerous Ironman competitions, marathons, triathlons, etc. they have done together. Incredibly inspirational and proof that nothing is unrealistic.

Keep rockin’ the positive posts, Scott! I love ‘em!

Hi Scott,
Thanks so much for sharing the Will Smith video with us. I was sitting here troubled by which direction I should go in the next few hours that I have to work, got your email, clicked the link and got inspired. Thanks!
We all certainly do have the occasional limiting thought, don’t we? Two of the most physically challenged people in history, Helen Keller and Dr. Stephen Hawkings are prime examples of being unrealistic. Incredible how their desire to achieve something unrealistic worked out.
Those were my favorite two things in the video – being unrealistic and building the wall one brick at a time. Powerful things to think about today as I do my Quickies!
Thanks again, Scott, for sharing the video and your thoughts. I can see that you’ve put a lot of work into this subject and how your own family can benefit by following this life lesson. Very cool!
Hey Scott, I always loved that line in The Pursuit of Happyness… This is a great video… very inspirational. Thanks for sharing it
Can someone tell me what he means by saying “you can’t be scared to die for the truth”?
