6 Ways That You Win With Transformation Contests
by Scott Tousignant · Filed Under: Fat Loss Quickie Motivation
Bill Phillips laid the ground work for fat loss transformation contests with Body For Life. Now it seems like every gym or fat loss expert has come up with a transformation contest of their own. I’m pretty proud of the fact that my Fat Loss Quickie Home Office Fitness Transformation Contest is the most unique transformation contest that you’ll ever come across. What makes it most unique is that it’s not just a body transformation. When you participate in this transformation contest you will transform your fitness, business, and life.
Transformation contests have been one of the best things to happen to the fitness industry. Here are 6 ways that you win from participating in transformation contests.
1. There’s A Concrete Deadline
One of the keys to fat loss success is to have a set date for which you are to achieve your goal. Most transformation contests last 12 weeks, which is a reasonable amount of time to see a significant transformation in you body.
Having that concrete deadline gives you a target to aim for. The popular saying goes, “A goal without a deadline is nothing but a dream.” With a transformation contest your destination is set.
2. There’s Incentive To Succeed
Losing belly fat is not very exciting on it’s own. But if you have the opportunity to be rewarded and win a prize for completing the transformation contest there is a greater incentive for pushing through the challenges that you will face along the way.
3. You’re Not Alone Throughout Your Fat Loss Journey
With transformation contests you are driving toward a common goal with hundreds, if not thousands of people. Many transformation contests provide you with a forum or support community where you can share your challenges with your peers. You also get to celebrate your successes with each other. This provides you with a sense that you are not alone on this journey. Other people are facing challenges and difficulties just as you are.
4. There’s Added Accountability
When you are participating in a forum or support community you are announcing to that group that you have set a goal to get leaner by the end of the transformation contest. This puts a little added pressure on you to live up to the goals that you have set.
It also helps when you let close friends and family members know that you have entered into a transformation contest. This will add some additional accountability because they will be asking you if you won any of the prizes.
5. You Tap Into Your Innate Desire To Compete
This is especially true for men. We love to compete. But I’m not just talking about competing against other people. Transformation contests provide you with a chance to compete with yourself. Finally follow all the way through to the end and achieve your goal.
When my wife Angie and I made the commitment to transform our bodies and we set that deadline it provided her with a challenge and that was something that was lacking from her life. Her job did not challenge her. She needed a reason to grow as a person. The transformation contest provided that opportunity.
6. Transformation Contests Get You To Take Action On The Program That You Purchased
Too often we purchase a diet or workout book and never get past the first chapter. Participating in a transformation contest where you must follow the program forces you to apply the information within it. Transformation contests are a great way to get the most out of your investment in a fat loss program.
So what do you think? Are there any benefits of transformation contests that I missed? Share them in the comment below and we’ll continue the discussion.
I’d also love to hear from you if you have ever participated in a transformation contest. Did you stick through to the end? Did you win anything? Did it provide you with extra motivation? You’re opinion matters. Share it below.
You ROCK! Enjoy the experience,

I am a HS teacher by profession but a stay at home mom by choice. I have two little girls who keep me busy. I was a very active athlete up until I graduated from college. I no longer had practice 6 days a week for 3 hours a day. I wasn’t lifting weights, I was out lookinf for a job. Within 6 months I put on 20 pounds. Over the years and two kids later, I managed to pile on a total of 55 pounds. I don’t want my little girls to look at me when I take them to school and say mommy why are you so fat? I have P90X, Biggest Loser, Hip Hop Abs, and a few others.(Don’t worry I didn’t pay for them I got them recycled from other people.) As a teacher I have done lots of research about the modern way to work out. I can do the treadmill at differnt speeds and intervals which I love. I can do the P90X. I have a hard time sticking with it. My biggest problem is FOOD. I love to cook. I want to learn how to change my life with food and exercise together.
Hey Betsy, thanks for stopping by and sharing a bit about yourself. My wife Angie is a primary teacher by profession but work-at-home-mom by choice
One of the reasons why you want to lose the fat and improve your health is great. Many women have shared the same concern about not wanting their kids to wonder why they are so fat. There’s something about the school drop off that must trigger some emotions because it’s been a common experience for so many women.
It’s great to try different workout videos. I have nothing against most workout programs and videos. If you find something that you enjoy and can put all your effort into, you will succeed. Trying new programs is a great way to incorporate variety and keep your motivation high. That’s why all of the workout programs that I have developed offer a new form of training each month.
Your “LOVE To Cook” is something that we can definitely tackle in future articles and audios. “Love” and “Hate” are strong words. Often times I hear people saying, “I LOVE chocolate”, “I LOVE pizza”. And then they say, “I hate dieting”, “I hate exercise”.
We have to be careful of how we associate words with certain things. You can LOVE to cook and cook fun healthy meals.
And this is not about perfection. So allowing yourself to cook 2 not so healthy and fun meals each week may satisfy that love of cooking for you.
Angie just walked into the room and read this note. She just told me that she loves to cook too. And believe me she definitely does. She has a lot of fun creating healthy meals and she has fun making us treats too
We’ll get into further detail soon.
I can’t thank you enough for bringing up this great topic and sharing your thoughts. Your comments truly mean a lot to me.
You ROCK!
Awesome post here. It touches on the most important keys to not just losing the weight but keeping motivated, and keeping the weight off.
A little about me, I’m a 25 year old stay at home Mom. I have a 5 year old daughter & a almost 2 year old son. I know all about the baby weight and how hard it is to be consistent with a workout program when you have little ones under your feet trying to “help out” with your workout! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve benchpressed them so they could get in on the fun LOL! I had to resort to getting up at 5am bright & early to be able to focus fully & be able to complete my workout. I not only feel great starting my day off right, by working out early, I get it out of the way for the day!
Holding yourself accountable for everything you put in your mouth is definitely one of the most important things. I read somewhere that abs are built in the kitchen, so you can be exercising all you want, but without eating clean, or at least eating healthy, you won’t get that “ripped” look or that 6 pack that so many of us want!
Thanks for creating the Unstoppable Fat Loss Transformation Contest. You’re not just blogging about what you know, you’re creating actual programs that allow us to join in right along with you!
Like you said, without a plan to achieve this, it’s only a dream.
I’m throwing a birthday party for my 2 year old “baby boy”;) (he’s still my baby), and getting his 2 year old pictures taken Sunday, so I won’t be able to join in on the contest this weekend. But Monday for sure you can count on it. I’m in!
I’m looking forward to keeping my furnace stoked to burn that fat!
SO glad I found this website,
Jessica
Yes, you got it Jessica! Abs are definitely made in the kitchen. You can’t out work poor nutrition.
2 years old is a very cute (and busy) age. Our kids are now 6 and 8. And they are still our babies too
We’re really looking forward to seeing your success with the Unstoppable Fat Loss Transformation Contest. It’s going to ROCK!
Scott
I found your link through the Problogger forum so I’m looking at your post from the technical writing perspective first. I thought you did an awesome job with your list – catchy points with just enough explanation to keep me reading.
Here’s the real test. You got me as a subscriber!
At age 55, I just celebrated my first anniversary with my gorgeous wife. Sometimes I still can’t believe I attracted this petite Asian beauty into my life. I am truly motivated to stay fit and in shape for her. She is 12 years younger than myself, and has two daughters – age 13 and 6 – from her previous marriage, so it’s a veritable fountain of youth for me. In fact, I tease Maggie all the time that I’ll still be kicking her butt when I’m 100!
Scott, much continued success to you and your blogging. I look forward to your insights and inspiration in my quest for a better body!
All the best from Toronto,
Your ProBlogger classmate,
Russ
Hey Russ, it’s pretty darn cool how great connections are made across the Internet… and go figure… You’re just up the 401 from me
I enjoyed your blog post “Do What You Love”.
You’re right… the fountain of youth is not found in a pill or an actual fountain… it’s living an active and happy life and sharing your love with those around you.
I appreciate you!

I am a transformation contest flunkie who is trying to turn into a contest junkie…
I’ve entered a few contests but never seem to finish them. I get off track and then give up. It looks like I’m going to finish the home office fitness transformation having make some great changes in my outlook.
That success has inspired me to enter a local 12 week body comp contest – they have divisions based on weight and since I’ve already been lifting — I have a good chance of a) finishing with my head held high and b) possibly actually winning (you never know…)
For those of you wavering on Scott’s contest — I say give them a try… even if you get off track — you’ll make some major mindset shifts and get to listen to some very motivational speakers — give it a try
Great comments Meredith. I’ve been a contest flunkie in the past as well. There were a few times that I entered Body For Life and never finished. That’s pretty darn common.
I’m so excited to see your new outlook and feel your confidence shine. It’s going to carry you through any contest or challenge that you face.
Thanks for being a valuable member of both Unstoppable Fat Loss and Fat Loss Quickie. You ROCK!
