30 Day Home Office Fitness Challenge: Day 2 New Motivation
by Scott Tousignant · Filed Under: Fat Loss Quickie Motivation
Today’s Home Office Fitness Challenge is all about changing your focus. As you begin to incorporate home office fitness into your work day I want you to take most of the focus off of fat loss. Fat loss is an excellent secondary benefit of working out, but it should never be your main reason for embarking on this challenge and journey. We want to put the focus on things that are more fun and that get you excited.
Can you get excited about increasing your productivity and getting more done in less time?
Can you get excited about increasing your energy so you can experience greater quality time with your kids or grandchildren and actually keep up with them?
Can you get excited about learning new skills and strategies that will boost your business and increase your profits?
Can you get excited about quiet time to yourself where you can allow your thoughts to wander, get ‘in-tune’ with yourself, and generate creative ideas that will improve your business and life?
It’s important to find those things that will make you effortlessly pull yourself away from your desk to do a fast and fun home office workout. If you only focus on fat loss it’s going to be all too easy to stay seated at your desk and work away.
It’s been a real joy to see how changing the focus has had an impact on many of the Fat Loss Quickie members. I often hear comments like, “Weight loss has always been something that I’ve dreaded, but increasing my productivity is something that I can really get behind.”
There is loads of research that proves that incorporating fitness into your workday will improve the quality of your work, mental performance, time management, and overall get more done in less time so you can do the things that make you happy. So why not use those benefits as a way to propel yourself forward during your home office fitness challenge?
The Secret To Home Office Fitness Success
I have shared my story several times about how I stumbled upon what I believe to be the one true secret to fat loss success. It’s worth repeating so I’ll share it with you here…
A couple of years ago I used to set my alarm for 4:30am so I could get up and go for a walk before I got started with my work day. I found myself hitting the snooze button and skipping my workouts frequently (I’m sure you’ve been there right?). Plus it was the middle of winter here in Canada and my bed felt so warm and cozy.
My main focus for getting out of bed so early to exercise was to lose all the weight that I had gained during my first year of working at home. Losing weight did not excite me. It wasn’t reason enough to get out of bed so early and battle the bitter cold winter air.
I wanted to lose weight, but I just couldn’t find the motivation to get going. That was until one morning when I discovered the secret to fitness success.
I had just signed up for a mentoring program, which also included a bunch of audio coaching on mp3’s. I added the audios to my mp3 player and went out for my walk. Typically I walk for 30 minutes, but as I approached my house I noticed that there was only fifteen minutes remaining in the coaching audio, so I decided to keep walking because the content was so juicy and informative.
Throughout the day I kept thinking to myself, “I can’t wait until my walk tomorrow so I can listen to the next audio in the coaching series.”
The next morning when the alarm went off at 4:30am I jumped out of bed with excitement because I couldn’t wait to see what I was going to learn in today’s mp3.
The secret to fitness success is that success comes when fitness is no longer about weight loss. It comes when fitness is about something much greater than weight loss.
That’s what makes the Fat Loss Quickie Experience so effective. The focus isn’t on weight loss. Yes weight loss is an incredible secondary benefit that occurs when you follow the program, but the primary benefits are much greater.
When I’m doing my Fat Loss Quickie cardio session or workout, it’s not about weight loss. It’s about increasing my energy to carry me through the day. It’s about improving my focus so I can work more efficiently. It’s about skyrocketing my productivity.
All of these primary benefits of home office fitness are what makes sticking to the program so easy. It’s the reason why I don’t just ‘fit in a workout’. Instead I schedule my day around my home office fitness because I know how much of an impact it has on my business, my family, and life.
So what are you going to place your focus on to get you excited about performing your fast fun home office fitness routines? Can you see how this shift in focus will make your home office fitness experience more enjoyable?
Your task for today is to list the things that will excite you enough to take a quickie home office fitness break.
You ROCK! Enjoy the experience,
Scott Tousignant
PS Tomorrow’s topic will be on nutrition and keeping the healthy choices top of mind.

I already know that exercise helps energize my body. Often I go for a 1 or 2 mile run to “wake up” my body. If I am tired a run helps energize me and clears my mind. In the winter (an summer too), I am usually not that interested in going to the club for a work out so I am excited to learn new habits about ways to use weights, Pilates ball, exercises and nutrition to improve focus and be more productive. I know it works, I am just not in the habit of doing it every day.
Thanks Scott,
Clay
[...] all about motivation and helping you stick to an active and healthy lifestyle for the long term. On Day 2 you changed your focus from fat loss to increased productivity, more energy, more focus, and [...]
You’re right with this. I can really feel the productivity boost when I’m exercising. I have a dream on traveling with my son while working online and I’ve been doing trial trips to see how it works. Amazingly, I seem to work more efficiently while out the home, when I spend most part of the day having fun with my kid.
Love your goal! I’m sure that you can easily visualize how awesome an experience it will be for both you and your son.
Productivity is one of the most important reasons why I incorporate fitness into my workday.
