30 Day Home Office Fitness Challenge: Day 13 Social Support
by Scott Tousignant · Filed Under: Fat Loss Quickie Motivation
Your task for today’s home office fitness challenge is to call upon your close friends, family members, and colleagues whom you trust and ask them to support you in your fitness, business, and life goals. Chances are, these are the same people that you asked to hold you accountable to your goals yesterday. Here’s the best way to gain their support…

1) Share your specific goals with your supportive peers.
2) Share the reasons why you want to achieve your goals and why achieving your goals would mean the world to you.
3) This one is a biggie! Share how they can best support you. If you are asking someone to support you, yet you haven’t defined how they can support you, it’s going to be difficult for them to read your mind and provide you with the best support possible.
Let them know if you respond better to negative criticism or positive words of encouragement. For example, if Angie catches me with my hands in the cookie jar I want her to tell me, “Hey tubby, why are you putting that poison in your body?” I respond well to that. It may be extreme, but it works for me. Yet that same method could cause you to crawl into a shell and go on an all out binge. If your support group doesn’t know this, they could end up doing more harm than good.
Here’s some examples of how you can let your support group know how they can help you the best… If you are calling upon your spouse for support, and you do not do well with junk in the house, let them know that they can support you best by not bringing junk food into the house, and if they do, they should hide it and not tell you about it.
Let your spouse or partner know how they will benefit when you achieve your goal. You’re gain in confidence, and leaner physique can provide your relationship with a wonderful boost and rekindle your love connection.
When it comes to asking your friends for support, let them know that they are actually sabotaging you when they say, “Why are you eating that rabbit food” or “Come on, have a beer… you only live once”. Tell them that you know that you only live once and you would rather live the best quality of life possible with the most energy possible and getting drunk and binging on fries does not fall in line with your goals.
We’re not going for perfection here. So if you plan on eating well throughout the week and treat yourself to some junk food and a few drinks with friends on a Friday night, that’s all good. But if you have a night out with your friends and you would rather not eat junk and drink booze, let them know and let them know your reasons why.
When it comes to online support communities it’s important that you get in there right away if you are having a bad day or are facing a challenge in achieving your goals. Once again, share your goals, your reasons why, and how they can support you. When you belong to a community of like-minded individuals you will find that they will rally behind you during your times of need and support. They listen and offer wonderful advice. Plus you are gaining support from multiple people all at once. This can be an instant mood booster and provided you with the lift to get you right back on track.
Now it’s time to get out there and let your support group know how they can best support you in your journey to success in business, fitness, and life.
You ROCK! Enjoy the experience,
