How To Reverse The Rise In Obesity

Obliterate ObesityTwo years ago I wrote a report titled “Obliterate Obesity“. Within the report I state that I am on a mission to reverse the obesity trend by 2015. This may seem like a tall mountain to climb, but I believe that if we work together we can achieve incredible greatness during the next five years.

The theme of the Obliterate Obesity Report is “UNITY“, which I believe is crucial for long term fat loss success on the individual level as well as for the world a s whole. Unity will bring your motivation for achieving optimal health to a whole new level.

You can download your copy of the report by right clicking Obliterate Obesity and selecting ’save’ or ’save as’.

Last week I must have read the report four or five times and took some serious time to reflect on the role that you and I are both playing in this adventure of reclaiming the health of our human race.

Let’s first take a look at your role…

Simple Lower Back Exercises To Help Relieve Back Pain

After my last video demonstration of some of my favorite lower back exercises to help relieve back pain I received many emails and great comments on the blog posts encouraging me to share more of these types of videos to help you build a strong foundation and prevent injuries.

If you missed the previous video demonstration you can view it here:Lower Back Exercises

About twelve years ago I injured my lower back and experienced sciatic pain that lasted for several months before I sought treatment from a professional. The exercises that I demonstrated previously and the ones that I am about to share with you, all played a key role in my recovery and strengthening of my lower back.

Today I’m going to share some simple yet highly effective exercises that you can perform on a stability ball. These exercises will help loosen up your lower back and hips as well as stimulate your nervous system and get you firing on all cylinders. Check’em out!

Stability Ball Exercises For The Lower Back

It may seem as though you are working your legs during the marching and leg extension exercises, and you are… but this is also stretching your lower back at the same time. It’s all connected.

These exercises would also make for a great warm up before doing a leg workout or doing any form of cardio. They are fairly easy to do and only take a couple minutes to perform… Of course it’s going to be a quickie ;)

I’ll be sure to share more great exercises and stretches to help you improve and strengthen your lower back. For now, I’d love to hear your comments. Was this video demonstration useful? What else would you like to see me demonstrate?

I’m here to help every way that I can. All you have to do is ask ;)

Keeping It Real,

Tom Venuto Is The Fat Loss Expert That Everyone Should Follow

Fat Loss Expert Tom VenutoI know that saying “everyone should follow Tom Venuto“, is a pretty bold statement to make. After all, not everyone may want to follow Tom’s nutrition strategies and not everyone will want to workout like him. Even if this is the case, I guarantee that there are countless fat loss lessons that you can learn from him, especially in the area of mindset and long term motivation.

If you haven’t listened to the amazing 18 minute interview that I did with Tom covering the topic of overcoming limiting beliefs, I recommend that you drop everything and pop it into your mp3 player now. You can download it by visiting Fat Loss Belief System with Tom Venuto and look for the audio player at the bottom of the page.

That is seriously one of the most powerful interviews that I’ve ever conducted, especially considering that it was only 18 minutes long. It’s all content with action steps that you can easily implement.

How To Prevent Shoulder Injuries

Today’s post is in response to a great question from Paul, one of your fellow Unstoppable Fat Loss blog readers…

“Hey Scott,

I am on the shelf this week as I heal yet another injury this time to my left pec. I was wondering if you had some tips on how to not get injured. I do warm up with cardio, stretch (although I don’t know if I’m doing it long enough or correctly)

Over the past decade, the most frequent injury is upper back and shoulder. I think that I’ve probably over-trained the large muscles and not enough on the smaller supporting ones.

Since I eliminated the bench press my shoulder is 85% better. Any tips are appreciated.

Thanks”

Here’s my video response and I will follow it up with a written summary:

Shoulder Warm Up Exercises

Spending 5 minutes on the treadmill or stationary bike prior to your workout is a good idea. It will elevate your heart rate and body temperature while getting your blood pumping through your body and oxygen flowing to your brain.

I like to use this time to mentally prepare for the workout and block out any potential distractions. But…

What Do You Think About The Taco Bell Drive Thru Diet Menu?

Taco BellWhen I was watching television yesterday I saw a commercial about the Taco Bell Drive Thru Diet and I was initially shocked. Taco Bell and diet don’t usually go hand in hand. It was kind of an oxymoron to me.

I’m not sure how new this menu is to Taco Bell as I haven’t eaten there in a long time and I don’t watch television enough to be aware of their marketing campaigns, so this may not be new news to you, but I thought it would make for a lively discussion.

As I mentioned, I was initially shocked, but then I thought of the other fast food chains that have been doing this for years. McDonald’s has their healthy menu and Subway has Jared and their healthy menu, so why can’t Taco Bell do the same thing now with Christine and the Fresco Menu?

Here’s a quick video to give you a peak at the Taco Bell Drive Through Menu…

Highlights from the video:

I Can Make You Look Like A Cover Model

Kim LyonsDid you make a New Year’s Resolution to finally get in shape this year? Did you set a specific scale number or body fat percentage that you would like to achieve? Or was it a certain pant size or dress size that you are aiming for instead? Maybe there’s a specific look that you are going for and you would love to see yourself with six pack abs?

Were you one of those rare people who actually visualized what you are going to look like when you achieve your goal? What helped you create that vision? Do you have an old picture of a leaner and healthier version of yourself or are you relying on magazine covers to help you visualize the new flat tummy that you are going to sculpt?

Speaking of magazine covers… how often do you look to them for motivation and inspiration? It’s hard not to notice them when you are in the checkout aisle at your local grocery store. I have to admit that I get a quick motivational boost when I see these fitness magazines while the cashier is scanning my food. There was even a time when I put back a tub of ice cream at the check out aisle because a magazine cover inspired me ;)

How often do you use these fitness cover models as a model for what you are aiming for with your fat loss goals?

OK, so I just through a whole bunch of questions at you. I hope that you aren’t feeling overwhelmed. There is a purpose to it all and here’s the main one…
